About Stephen Pratt MLC

Hi, I’m Stephen Pratt – your local representative for the South Metropolitan Region in the Legislative Council.

I was born in Fremantle and went to school at North Fremantle Primary School. I attended Christian Brothers College in Fremantle and later completed a degree in Politics and Journalism at the University of Notre Dame. I still live locally with my wife Elena and our three children.

Prior to being elected I worked as an Electorate Officer in Roger Cook’s Kwinana office, and then as a Senior Policy Adviser in his Health and Mental Health portfolio’s. I also served as a Councillor for the City of Cockburn for two terms from 2011 to 2019 and helped bring several local projects to fruition, including the $3.1 million adventure playground at Bibra Lake and the Cockburn Aquatic and Recreation Centre.

During my time in Roger Cook’s ministerial office at the peak of the COVID pandemic, I was humbled by the strength and camaraderie of the Western Australian community. It is this community spirit that I want to help grow.

Since my election to the Legislative Council, I have been appointed to the Joint Standing Committees on Environment and Public Affairs, as well as the Committee on Delegated Legislation. I hope to continue expanding my involvement across the Western Australian community and look forward to serving the people of this great state as a member of the Cook Labor team.
